The Governor is the chief executive of the state whose function is to administer the laws of the state. He is helped in this task by his Chief of Staff. Charlie Waldrep was Folsom's chief of staff. These files contain letters, reports, clippings, press releases, publications of various kinds, reports, and other types of materials. The files are unarranged in the boxes and about 1/3 of the files are not labeled. A few of the more important files have been listed in the container listing. There are many files for individuals in this series, but they are not listed in the container listing, nor are they indexed. Subjects discussed include: agriculture, applications and appointments, bonds, budgeting, the controversy over the Confederate Flag, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, security in the Capitol Complex area, exonomic development and industrial development, specifically the location of a Mercedes-Benz plant in Alabama and the closing of the Anniston Army Depot, education and education reform, including funding for education and the inequitableness of funding for education, higher education, public health, rural electric cooperatives, conservation and the environment, child advocacy, diagnosis and prevention of breast cancer, and travel and tourism.
